President's Letter

Membership in a professional association is founded on the concept of strength in numbers. Through our membership, the resources we each have access to can shape our careers, boost us over professional hurdles and guide us through an industry evolution that is unfolding at warp speed. Together, we have vast reserves of wisdom, encouragement, and ideas; all the elements needed to continuously affirm our roles as critical members of our organizations.

We are preparing for that future with a fresh group of leaders on the Regional Board of Directors and the Local Steering Committees in Boston, NYC and Philadelphia. Their contributions will ensure that our strategy is a dynamic one, able to respond to the transformation of the legal landscape that we are currently experiencing.

How we respond to the changes around us will be the result of many informed minds working together to meet an evolving list of modern needs. Fortunately, there is immense power in the perspective of our peers, and we can use that perspective to guide today’s law firms into the future.

The 2017 LMA Northeast Regional Board Thanks You!
January marked the official launch of the LMA’s Northeast Region and our 2017 Northeast Regional Board would like to say thank you to our members for entrusting us to serve them this year. The Regional Board of Directors, comprised of 11 members from each former Chapter, spent the year establishing strategic plans and annual goals for the region, improved efficiencies and collaboration and more programming options, as well as ensuring the long-term financial strength of our region.

LMA Boston Hosts Annual Summer Social
The LMA Boston local group gathered on a warm summer night in July for its annual Summer Social event. Members enjoyed an evening of networking, cocktails and Mexican hors d’oeuvres while networking and catching up with peers and industry friends. LMA New York Hosts Annual Summer Soiree
On August 3, the New York local group held its annual Summer Soiree. More than 200 LMA members and friends joined us at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while networking and catching up with peers and industry friends. The LMANE at LMASE!
The LMA Northeast was in full force at the LMA Southeast Regional Conference, which was held in September in Charlotte. Many of our members were featured speakers as well as sponsors and attendees. 

LMANE at the LMA Leaders Conference
Eleven LMA Northeast members (plus our regional administrator Sue Russon) represented the region at the LMA Leaders Conference in Chicago in October where they participated in team-building exercises and leadership presentations. James Kane (who you may remember was the keynote speaker from the LMA 2012 Conference) spoke at the Leaders Conference and made a generous donation on behalf of the attendees to Open Books Chicago, a nonprofit social venture that provides literacy experiences for thousands of readers each year through inspiring programs. 2017 LMA Northeast Holiday Card – Call for Throwback Photos!

Are you interested in being featured in LMA Northeast’s inaugural holiday card this year? If you answered YES, then break out your childhood photo album and dig up your favorite photo that captures what the holidays mean to you. From crying on Santa’s lap to lighting the menorah, we want your best holiday photos!

All submissions need to be high-resolution JPEGs and sent to lmaneholidaycard@gmail.com by Monday, November 20. Please identify who you are in the photo along with your local group. Note, photos not selected for the holiday card will appear in our holiday throwback social media campaign throughout the month of December.
