Houston (February 22) and Dallas (February 23) 2017 State of the Legal Industry Brent Turner with Thomson Reuters presented current legal industry trends, challenges, and opportunities, coupled with economic data through 2016 to both our Dallas and Houston LMA Locals. The discussion centered on 200 select firms, comprised of Am Law 100, 2nd Hundred and Mid-Size law firms, and covered key drivers of profitability such as demand, profits, practice performance, rates/realization, lawyer staffing models, and expenses, including a focus on Texas performance.
New Orleans/Baton Rouge - January 24, 2017 The Making of an Effective Marketing Plan Brian Kennel with PerformLaw presented "The Making of an Effective Marketing Plan." His presentation reviewed the essential components of an effective marketing plan, including a process that emphasizes planning at the individual, section, group and client levels. Brian also discussed ways to measure the effectiveness of a firm’s marketing plan.
Austin - February 23, 2017 Search Engine Optimization, Demystified This SEO workshop included a basic overview of the various components of search engine optimization including relevant vocabulary, basic tools and best practices. Attendees took away information and best practices to enable them to make informed decisions regarding SEO along with the hands-on ability to optimize a few pages and posts on their websites.
Denver - February 14, 2017 Breaking Down Barriers The Denver LMA Local program featured Karen Hester from the Center for Legal Inclusiveness. Karen discussed barriers and bias in the workplace, and winning despite them. She examined diversity in the legal and marketing industries, and offered tips on overcoming biases.
New Orleans/Baton Rouge – February 14, 2017 Shift Happens: Lateral Integration Creates Opportunities for Change Jill Huse and Heather McCullough with Society 54 presented "Shift Happens: Lateral Integration Creates Opportunities for Change." The interactive presentation covered ideas and strategies for marketers to evaluate and integrate lateral attorney hires into their firms.

Jessica Jaramillo, is the Marketing Director of Ireland Stapleton Pryor & Pascoe, a 40-attorney firm in Denver. She is a solo marketer working with attorneys and practice groups to create and implement client-focused business development initiatives. She has created programs within her firm to improve marketing and business development infrastructure, including regular business development training, individual coaching and CRM implementation. A longtime LMA member, Jessica has been involved in leadership for three years.
