Start Your Engines! The 2024 LMASE Regional Conference is Gearing Up
It was 14 years ago, and I was not even two weeks into a new job in legal marketing after transitioning from the vastly different nonprofit world when I walked into my first Legal Marketing Association Southeast (LMASE) event. It was a mini-conference held in Charlotte, and I was a bundle of nerves. Not only was I unfamiliar with the nuances of legal marketing and the legal jargon surrounding me, but I did not know a single person in LMA. As I walked into the event, my nerves melted away. I was greeted by warm, welcoming LMA members and spent the day learning about the industry in which I had jumped unexpectedly.
Fourteen years later, I am still learning about the legal industry every single day. I attribute most of that to LMA and the rich programming offered in so many ways. I’ve had the opportunity to attend numerous annual and regional conferences, soaking up the vast array of ideas and forming relationships that have gotten me to where I am now.
Because of the impact LMA has had on me and my career, I’m thrilled to be part of the pit crew gearing up for the LMASE Regional Conference in Charlotte, NC, this September. Get ready to rev your engines! This year’s Regional Conference, “Accelerate,” focuses on building your industry knowledge, refining your legal marketing skills and providing intentional and impactful networking opportunities.
With three different tracks that follow the LMA’s Body of Knowledge, conference attendees can focus on Business Development + Client Service, Business of Law + Marketing Management, and Leadership and Communications + Technology Management. Our programming committee has built a high-octane agenda with sessions that will turbocharge your career in legal marketing.
Whether you’re a seasoned legal marketer or new to the field, the LMASE Regional Conference is an opportunity to connect with industry experts, exchange ideas with peers and gain actionable insights that you can apply directly to your work. So, start your engines, and we’ll see you in Charlotte!

How did you get into legal marketing?
I joined the legal marketing field in January 2017, when I was hired by Molly Weathington, managing partner of the Weathington Firm, on a part-time, temporary basis. Her firm had recently acquired several new attorneys, including a named partner, and everything needed updating. From the firm’s logo, name, signage, website, headshots – you name it! Molly and I were acquaintances at the time, and I had no knowledge that the legal marketing field existed. She had faith that I would rise to the challenge, which is what I did. Part-time, temporary employment elevated into full-time employment within six weeks, and the rest is history!
I love the fact that no two days at work are the same for me. One day can be full of event planning, another awards submission and yet another responding to an RFP. Legal marketing is a field that marries many of my strengths which include planning, writing and verbal communication. I like that legal marketing is a close-knit community of like-minded, collaborative professionals who support each other.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
What free time? Haha! Just kidding. I do enjoy a nice work-life balance, and some of my hobbies include walking my one-year-old white labrador, Ivy, playing pickleball, reading, cooking new recipes, entertaining and hanging out with close friends.
What are you watching, listening to or reading right now?
I just finished reading “The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry” by Gabrielle Zevine, which I highly recommend. I’m watching “Death and Other Details” on Hulu as well as “American Idol”. I’m a Food Network junkie, and love most of the shows there. I always have a podcast going in my car, and some of my favorites include “Smartless,” “Absolutely Not,” “Crime Junkies,” and “Morbid.”
